Celine Dion Faces Overtime pay Lawsuit from Former Employee

It appears that of the rich and famous may have violated the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). According to this lawsuit, Keith Sturtevant, a handyman employed by Celine Dion in March of 2009, claims that he was asked to work forty-eight to sixty hours a week by Dion but offered no extra money except for his $63,000 per year salary because he was a private contractor. Sturtevant also states he was the only employee in charge of a warehouse controlled by Dion and he also worked at her house cleaning house shutters, building book shelves, repairing items in the kitchen, setting up and breaking down equipment and running errands.

According to the claim made in the lawsuit, Don employed at least three other full-time maintenance workers as independent contractors “in an attempt to avoid paying workers compensation and appropriate federal withholding taxes.” This would be a violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
