Nashville cardiologists are speaking up about their knowledge and opinions concerning the medication Pradaxa. He also says that, Pradaxa requires fewer exams and less diet restrictions than other medications. Finally he states that, “The big reason there’s been a slow response to putting more patients on Pradaxa is because of the significant bleeding. Right now, we don’t have a good mechanism to reverse it.”

Dr. George Crossley, who leads the cardiology program at Baptist Hospital, stated that he and his team were among the first people to test Pradaxa and he feels that the medication is a remarkable improvement compared to the medication Coudamin. Crossley also cited a study from a New England Journal of Medicine which concluded that Pradaxa is just as effective and safe as Coudamin.

Judge Herndon has stated, “we’ll get these cases resolved in some period of time here soon,” when referring to a large amount of the lawsuits. Stephen Saltzburg, who is serving as mediator for the cases says that, “I am cautiously optimistic that we will settle all of these cases. There are always some holdouts, but I think we will settle the bulk of these cases in the next year.” Saltzburg also stated that, “rather than conduct trials to streamline the mass lawsuits Herndon put the case on the mediation track.”

Also, according to Saltzburg and the lawsuits, out of the 1,500 cases that both sides have agreed to settle, the average settlement comes to about $214,000.
